WHAT I LEARNED

Just like Giant Peg, a simple household item can spark a bigger idea. Scissy was inspired by a vintage 1950s candelabra I discovered at a thrift store. I loved how it expanded into a long line or folded into a tight zigzag. So, I scaled it up, crafted it from aluminum, and made it modular to allow endless configurations.

With a tight look of milled and extruded aluminum, Scissy takes minimal aesthetics and maximum versatility to shop interiors and windows. The ability to easily change configurations without tools, makes Scissy the perfect solution to evolving product presentations.

The basic connection principle is shown in this photo of a Scissy Wall Connector. A clear anodized tube is slipped on to the milled section of the connector, and held tightly in place by a rubber o-ring.

The ability for merchandise to exist without the encumbrance of heavy fixturing is the essence of Scissy. From simple wall bars, both vertical and horizontal, to tables and pedestals, Scissy can go from wall to floor.

MiniScissy uses the same connecting parts as Scissy, but at a miniature scale.

Scissy can be added to indefinitely, and folded up when not in use.

Scissy’s refreshing appearance stems from the simplicity of the connecting tubes.
