SORBET: A NEW MATERIAL
Creative Director at B+N
A playful approach to color can create a seismic shift in how materials are perceived and produced.
Sorbet acrylic was borne from a desire for colorful, soft, and glowing hues of acrylic that were missing in the interiors industry at the time. After exploring numerous acrylic manufacturers and finding none that met our vision, we decided to use our own factory. We sandblasted colored sheets to achieve the desired soft effect and formed them into tables, shelves, and panels. The result was a radiant, enticing collection of colors that invited touch and created a visually stunning, backlit effect. Showcasing our work at a small trade show led to a collaboration with a major acrylic manufacturer, resulting in a collection of cell-cast acrylics with the perfect blend of hue, soft glow, and durability.
Pistachio.
Sheets of acrylic were in the unmistakable hue bent and formed into drawer units, bowls, and Sorbetti Sliders – side pieces that slide into the Sorbetti Uprights – to create makeover stations.
Glow Up.
We pierced holes in the acrylic sheets and used thick rods of clear cast acrylic to create shelf holders, faceouts, and vertical mounts. The reactions from customers inspired us to create the popular Pog System.

Petal Pusher.
The Petal Table in spring green can be raised and lowered easily in the channels of the Sorbetti system.
