WHAT I LEARNED

No matter how elegant, sophisticated, or brand-appropriate the design is, if the content does not have the proper tone of voice and match the the parent company’s public presence, then it has more chances of failure.

Woman was an experimental entry by Condé Nast into the supermarket checkout women’s advice magazine genre. Known for prestigious titles like Vogue, Vanity Fair, GQ, Condé Nast Traveler, Details, and Allure, Condé Nast is renowned for its excellence in presentation, design, and art direction. With Woman we strived, and often succeeded in upholding that high bar of expectations. However, the content didn’t quite match the company’s established voice and personality; Woman was unfortunately discontinued after a short run.
